Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-03
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the EpiHem app and related services ("Service") provided by Epidot Solutions AB, reg. no. 559159-4501 ("EpiHem", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
EpiHem is a household management app offering shared checklists, meal planning, receipt scanning with OCR, project budgets, shared calendar, and household administration. The Service is available via mobile apps and a web client.
All intellectual property rights in the Service, including software, design, logos, and trademarks, belong to Epidot Solutions AB. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal household management.
2. Account
You create an account by signing in with Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your login credentials or grant unauthorized access to your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to:
- Not use the Service for illegal purposes
- Not upload offensive, threatening, or illegal content
- Not attempt unauthorized access to other users' data or systems
- Not overload, disrupt, or sabotage the Service
- Not use automated tools (bots, scrapers) against the Service without written permission
- Not circumvent security or access restrictions
- Not share your subscription with people outside your household, or create multiple accounts/households to circumvent limits in the Service (see §5)
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.
4. Data Ownership
You own all data you create in the Service: checklists, recipes, receipt images, calendar entries, and other information. We make no claims of ownership over your content.
By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. We may use anonymized and aggregated data (where individual users can never be identified) for analysis, product development, and machine learning.
5. Households and Shared Data
In these Terms, a household means a group of people who actually live together or otherwise share daily life and household economy (e.g., family, partners, cohabitants, dependent children). This also covers separated parents who coordinate daily life and finances around shared children (e.g., alternating residence or shared custody), even though the parents do not live together themselves. The Service's shared-data features are designed for this kind of use.
Data created within a household (checklists, meal plans, receipts, etc.) is shared with all household members. You are responsible for who you invite to your household. If you leave a household, shared data may remain for other members.
Premium may include a limited number of concurrent households per account. Current limits are shown in the app. These limits are intended to accommodate legitimate cases (e.g., your own household plus a parents' household) and are not intended to enable subscription sharing outside your household.
You may not:
- Create or join households together with people who are not part of your actual household for the purpose of splitting the cost of the subscription or circumventing limits in the Service.
- Sell, rent, broker, or otherwise make your account or subscription available to outside parties.
- Use multiple accounts or households to circumvent feature, volume, or cost limits in the Service.
Where we have reasonable grounds to suspect such use, we reserve the right, with or without prior notice, to:
- Request reasonable evidence that household members share a residence or household.
- Remove members from a household, split a household, or pause sharing features.
- Disable premium features, terminate the subscription, or close the account in accordance with §9.
We will endeavor to contact you first and give you an opportunity to correct the use, but may act immediately in cases of obvious or repeated abuse.
6. Service Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee any specific uptime (SLA). The Service may be unavailable during maintenance, updates, or technical issues. We are not liable for interruptions or data loss caused by circumstances beyond our control.
7. Fees and Subscriptions
EpiHem offers both a free version and a premium version with extended functionality. Premium features require an active subscription. Subscription prices and which features are included in each tier are shown in the app and may change with 30 days' notice.
We may offer free trial periods for premium features. After the trial period ends, an active subscription is required for continued access.
Features currently included in the free version may in the future be moved to the premium version. We will notify affected users at least 30 days in advance of such changes.
Subscriptions are purchased, auto-renewed, and managed via Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Cancellation, right of withdrawal, and refunds are handled according to the respective store's terms and policies. You can cancel your subscription at any time via your app store settings.
8. Fair Use and Resource Limits
Certain features of the Service (e.g., receipt scanning, AI recipe import) incur direct costs for us per use. Your subscription includes reasonable use of these features for normal household purposes.
We reserve the right at any time, with or without notice, to:
- Introduce or modify usage limits for cost-intensive features
- Temporarily or permanently restrict, throttle, or disable access to specific features in cases of unreasonable, automated, or abusive usage
- Suspend accounts that systematically exploit the Service in ways that significantly deviate from normal household use
What constitutes reasonable use is assessed based on normal behavior among our users. We will endeavor to contact you before taking action, but may act immediately in cases of obvious abuse.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings in the app or by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal data is removed per our privacy policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation.
10. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for:
- Indirect damages, consequential damages, or lost profits
- Data loss caused by technical failures or third-party services
- Inaccuracies in OCR-scanned receipt data
- Actions performed by other household members
Our total liability to you, regardless of cause, is limited to the amount you have paid us, if any, in the preceding 12 months.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold EpiHem harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
12. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes, we will notify you via the app or email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably shall be settled by Swedish courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
The app is distributed via Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Their respective terms of service apply alongside these Terms for app distribution and payment processing. For iOS-specific clarifications, see Annex A below.
You may also contact the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN), www.arn.se, for dispute resolution.
14. Annex A: For iOS Users
If you obtain the Service through the App Store, the following clarifications apply:
- Apple's Standard EULA (End User License Agreement) applies in addition to these Terms.
- Where Apple's EULA and these Terms conflict on iOS-specific points, Apple's EULA prevails.
- Apple is not responsible for maintenance or support of the Service beyond what mandatory consumer law requires.
- Apple Inc. has the right to invoke this annex as a third-party beneficiary.
